Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) is a distributed sensor network, with sensors that can sense and inspect the outer world. Sensors in WSN communicate through wireless network, so its network settings are flexible and positions of the devices are changeable. Besides, it can also connect with internet through wire or wireless and form a multi-hop self-organized network by wireless communications. The study of Wireless Sensor Network routing protocols has become the key point in the study of Wireless Sensor Network, therefore, this article first makes an overview of the design factors and principles of WSN routing protocol. Then it states a research about different routing protocols of WSN. WSN routing protocols can be divided into three categories according to their structures: flat routing protocol, hierarchical routing protocol and location-based routing protocol. In the end, it makes a conclusion for the future study and the development tendency of WSN routing protocols.
