Abstract
The demands for advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) operations has significantly arisen. However, there are obvious performance limitations in conventional SAR systems with Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) architecture that hinders the universal application of advanced SAR mode observations. In this paper, we present a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) SAR system equipped with 4 transmitters and 4 receivers, operating at W-band region which can introduce enough diversity and frame rates suitable for the variety of advanced operations. The key concept, major design considerations and some experimental results of the system are discussed in detail.
