Abstract

We proposed a triangular multi-core hollow optical fiber (TMC-HOF) design for uncoupled space-division multiplexing (SDM) and mode-division multiplexing (MDM). Proposed TMC-HOF has three asymmetric triangular core, because of this LP11 can be split into two LP11 modes. Using this structure, there are three modes that can propagate in a core. Total nine modes can propagate in a fiber. Effective index was estimated by using full-vectorial finite element method. We confirmed that nine modes propagation in a fiber with low loss and low crosstalk.
