Abstract
Single-wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) networks were applied to liquid crystal displays (LCDs) as transparent electrodes substituting indium tin oxide (ITO). While liquid crystal (LC) alignment characteristics within LC cell using SWCNT electrodes showed similar behavior to counterpart using ITO electrodes, its V-T characteristics were somewhat improved by electric-field enhancement effect. In addition, the SWCNT-based LC cell was characterized by a high thermal budget. Therefore, the competitive performance of the LC cell using SWCNT electrodes could allow new approaches to replace the conventional ITO electrodes in display technology.
