Abstract
Although soft tissue injuries of the neck are relatively frequent, traumatic ruptures of the thyroid gland after blunt neck trauma seldom occur. Furthermore, most of the reported cases have involved rupture of a preexisting goitrous thyroid gland. The traumatic rupture of the normal thyroid gland is extremely uncommon. Here we report a case of normal thyroid gland rupture in a healthy 29-year-old woman after blunt neck trauma.
