Abstract
Cladding mode waveguide dispersion and its effects on the spectra of long period fiber grating were theoretically analyzed. A optical fiber waveguide structure was proposed for application in long period grating (LPG) filters. A technique which introduced waveguide dispersion into cladding modes, was presented to control the LPG spectrum. The proposed waveguide structure enabled LPG filters to individually isolate the coupling of cladding modes.
