Abstract

A radiant heating system, so called 'Ondol', is widely used in Korea. The Ondol was proven to provide good thermal environment, but it does not guarantee enough ventilation, since infiltration is the only source of ventilation. This study aims at developing a raised-floor Ondol with a ventilation system to keep better thermal environment and ventilation rates. Field measurements were performed in a full-scale mock-up model. Air was forcefully supplied from the raised-floor area, and mechanically returned to a vent. Ventilation rate was 0.86 ACH(air change rate per hour). The performance of the Ondol system was examined in terms of thermal environment and ventilation rates.
