Abstract

We considered optimization of the uplink TCP transmission in the 802.16e based networks. Since the bandwidth request-grant process of the WiMAX has overhead, it is not optimized for the TCP transmission. To overcome this problem, we propose a new scheme for the uplink TCP data transmission by monitoring the downlink ACK packets. Our new scheme allocates the bandwidth for the TCP data transmission by prediction using the TCP-ACK packets. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme increases significantly the uplink throughput and reduces the delay of TCP data packets.
