Abstract

Highly aligned carbon nanotubes were synthesized by thermal decomposition of acetylene gas. Metal catalyst island was used for synthesis. The reaction process in vapor deposition chamber could be achieved without any treatment before and after catalyst metal deposition. The nanotubes on the nickel catalyst showed uniform emission properties in spite of the crooked nonaligned tube.
