Abstract
An off-line tool path generation for the tool wear compensation in micro-EDM milling process is proposed that is based on three-dimensional geometric simulation. In the proposed compensation method, the tool wear is predicted using the geometric simulation of the micro-EDM process, and then the compensating tool feed motion in the axial direction at the tool path is generated as a CNC part program. Therefore, the proposed method can easily be applied to the CNC EDM machine tools that are not equipped with a tool wear compensation control, and does not require any modification of machine tool hardware.
