Abstract

The concentration of metal ions influences the structural characteristics of self-assembled coordination polymers constructed from Mn2+ ions and [(η4-benzoquinone)Mn(CO)3]- ions. At very low metal-ion concentrations, 1D "string" formations are obtained (see picture), while at higher concentrations, 2D "grid" networks are formed.
