Bessel beams are a set of solutions of the wave equation whose intensity profile does not change with the propagation and are termed diffraction free. The second harmonic generation for experimental Bessel beams generated by illuminating an axicon with a Gaussian beam is simulated. By adjusting the propagation distance zmax to the length of the nonlinear crystal, the conversion efficiency for a Bessel beam was optimized.
