N2 - The optical eigenmode technique offers a global optimisation method delivering the electromagnetic field profile enhancing any linear light-matter interaction. Here, we use this approach to study the optimal beams for trapping, pushing and pulling (tractor beam) a mesoscopic micro-object at resonance with the incident light field.
