Relation between occupant satisfaction and window operation opportunity as well as building size in office buildings in Korea

The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between occupant satisfaction and window operation opportunity in 29 office buildings. There are three criteria for occupant satisfaction: satisfaction with indoor air quality (IAQ), with indoor thermal environment, and with maintenance management services. Occupant satisfaction with indoor air quality (IAQ), indoor thermal environment, and maintenance management services were all higher in the 19 buildings in which the windows were operable than in the 10 buildings in which they were not operable. The three criteria for satisfaction(IAQ, indoor thermal environment, and maintenance management services) have a strong correlation with one another. Among the buildings withoperable windows, those with a floor area of less than 20,000m² showed comparatively high occupant satisfaction with IAQ, indoor thermal environment and building maintenance management services.
