Abstract
An investigation of the changes in the magnetic moment and physical properties of a CoPt alloy was done. The changes were induced by a new type of ion-beam mixing process in an electric field and induced the formation of a metastable phase through ultrafast quenching. The magnetic moment measured was larger than that of bulk Co and stable CoPt films by a factor of 55% and 35% respectively.
