Preparation and Characterization of Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) Membrane

Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membrane blended with synthesized graft poly(vinylidene fluoride)-graft-poly(potassio-sulfonatopropyl methacrylate) (PVDF-g-PSPMA) (A2) was prepared via a nonsolvent-induced phase separation for purpose of antifouling property enhancement. Blending of PVDF-g-PSPMA led to low water contact angle value in comparison with pristine PVDF membrane (A1). This property ultimately resulted in antifouling characteristics enhancement of the A2 membrane. For example, the A2 membrane displayed normalized flux (Jv/J0) as well as permeate flux superior to the A1 membrane.
