Abstract

Photocatalytic oxidation of VOC compounds in water and air is a potential technology of pollution abatement. TiO2 supported on SiO2 surface is effective on the recovery of photocatalyst, morphological control, and coating on the substrate. A discussion covers the predominant characteristics of silica supports; effects of titanium precursor; TiO2 supported on mesoporous silica; and TiO2-SiO2 photocatalyst and its photocatalytic reactions (reactants include benzene, phenol, ethylene, acetaldehyde, and 1-octanol).
