Abstract
The performance of adaptive modulation with transmit diversity over frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels was analyzed. The closed-form expressions of the average bit error rate (BER) and the average throughput for adaptive modulation space-time transmit diversity (AM-STTD) and adaptive modulation selection transmit diversity (AM-STD) was derived in a multipath fading channels. The results showed that the transmit diversity (TD) scheme was more effective with fixed modulation because AM achieved its gain over fixed modulation by changing the modulation level in the fading channels.
