Abstract

The use of a highly stable synthetic ferrimagnetic medium (SFM) for longitudinal magnetic recording was presented. The estimates using the demonstration head and medium parameters showed a percolation linear density of over 1000 KBPI. It was found that the use of SFM allowed demonstration with a bit aspect ratio of 5.3 which was higher than the projected value of 4.
