Abstract
Orbital angular momentum (OAM) of a high order Bessel light beam was investigated. Transfer of OAM from Bessel light beam to trapped transparent particles was demonstrated in optical tweezers. The local angular momentum density for a high order Bessel beam was theoretically examined, within a rigorous vectorial treatment. The measured rotation rates corresponded to a transfer of about 1% of the Bessel beam's orbital angular momentum.
