N2 - In this paper, a hybrid chip was demonstrated for classifying biological particles according to their size and magnetic property. The proposed hybrid cell sorter (HCS) was realized using a hydrodynamic particle sorter, a micromachined virtual impactor. The HCS is fabricated through simple silicon surface micromachining. For performance test, Jurkat cells and human monocytes were classified. In experimental results, the sorting efficiencies of Jurkat cells and human red blood cells(RBCs) and white blood cells (WBCs) were enhanced by induced magnetic flux density.
