Abstract

The mechanical behavior of Ni-based metallic glass matrix composite after cold rolling has been investigated. The ultimate compression strength decreased by about 15%, while ductility of the composite increased by about 30% for the 5% cold-rolled composite in thickness reduction. It appears that the enhancement of plasticity is due to internal shear band formation inside of the amorphous matrix and at the interface between amorphous matrix and reinforced brass.
