Abstract

The optical coefficients of multiple-scattering media have been measured by means of time-resolved reflectance spectroscopy. In particular, time-resolved reflectance spectra for various absorber concentrations and different radial distances between the incident beam and the detecting fiber were systematically measured and analyzed. The absorption and transport scattering coefficients calculated based on the time-resolved reflectance spectra were in good agreement with the values measured by a conventional steady-state method. We also found that these coefficients for low absorbance scattering media could be simply obtained from the relationship between the radial distance and the time delay of the peak in the time-resolved reflectance spectra.
