Magnetic properties and high frequency response of high moment FeTaN/AlN laminates for high data rate recording

Abstract

Discussed are the results on the study of the magnetic properties and high frequency responses of FeTaN films and novel FeTaN/AlN laminates. FeTaN/AlN laminates show magnetic properties and good high frequency responses suitable for ultra-high density and high data rate magnetic recording. The flat frequency responses extend up to 450 MHz for as-deposited 1000 angstrom thick FeTaN films. The permeability of 1 μm thick FeTaN/AlN laminates are flat up to 200 MHz without patterning them into stripes.
