Abstract

In this paper, we propose joint power allocation and modulation and coding scheme (MCS) selection for downlink non-orthogonal multiple access system considering max-min user fairness. The proposed scheme determines the power allocation factor according to the MCS level of the far user. It allocates the maximum fraction of power to the near user while guaranteeing the decoding of the far user, so that it can improve data rate of both users and achieve user fairness. Also, since there is a finite number of MCS levels in the practical system, the complexity of the proposed scheme is greatly reduced. Finally, the simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves the performance close to the maximum of minimum user rate within a small number of iterations.
