Abstract

Creativity is an important part of our lives with the rapid growth of modern civilization. There are many methods for developing creativity. However, it is not easy to actually do so. Then, how can creativity be taught in a college engineering classroom in order to handle personal and interpersonal relationships? Is it possible to improve both individual and collective creativity? In search for answers, several programs were developed to encourage creativity among the undergraduate students. All students understood their types of preference through MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) test, and students proceeded group projects and constructed creative products during programs. It was found that the student's Torrence Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT) results, which reflect levels of creativity, have been improved over a semester of participation. In another program designed for community education, experts from diverse areas such as music, art, filming, poetry, philosophy, psychology, and business administration were invited to share their most creative moments and ideas. Experiences from teaching creativity within such programs will be given in this presentation.
