Abstract

This paper proposes a multilevel characteristic basis function method (MLCBFM) using Poggio-Miller-Chang-Harrington-Wu-Tsai (PMCHWT) formulation. The MLCBFM is an effective numerical method based on the method of moments. It reduces problem dimension using characteristic basis functions to facilitate the inversion process of the impedance matrix. In this paper, we present the entire algorithm of multilevel CBFM using PMCHWT formulation and verify the accuracy and computational efficiency of the proposed method with various numerical results. Additionally, we evaluate the performance with respect to certain parameters in the algorithm.
