Abstract
The electronic structure at the interface between Au and graphene was investigated by in-situ ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It was found that the π band state of the graphene is about 3.0 eV below the Fermi level. We present direct evidence of the absence of band bending formation at the interface between Au and graphene, even though the evidence shows the formation of band bending between Au and adsorbed oxygen. Additionally, a Au cluster size effect was also revealed in the Au 4f core-level binding energy shift.
