Abstract
The influence of CaF2 on viscosity and structure of molten slags was investigated. The infrared spectra of the quenched slags were analyzed to understand the structural role of CaF2 in the depolymerization of silicate network in a microscopic view. It was suggested that some extent of undercooling as a driving force was needed for the precipitation of solid particles in the melt.
