Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) Shiftwork: The identity of an anion complexed to indole-based macrocycles can be determined by the NMR chemical shift of the NH protons (see picture). The difference in the chemical shifts arises from a difference in the strength of the hydrogen-bonding interactions between the macrocycles and the anions.
