Abstract
The top-seeded solution method was used for the growth of near-stoichiometric LiNbO3 crystals. The doubly-doped crystals exhibited a strong and thermally stable induced absorption band in the visible range when exposed to light. Holographic storage was carried out using the two-wave mixing technique. Two reference beams of equal intensity were used to intersect symmetrically inside the crystal. The photorefractive sensitivity was enhanced with ultraviolet pre-exposure because it increased the electron concentration in Fe traps.
