Abstract

In this study, we demonstrated the high performance of electrically controlled birefringence (ECB) cells on solution-derived La2O 3 films at various temperatures. The ECB cells fabricated using solution-derived La2O3 films exhibited superior electro-optical characteristics, indicating that this approach will allow the fabrication of advanced LC displays with high performance. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to demonstrate the surface reformation of the La2O3 films as a function of temperature. Superior electro-optical (EO) characteristics of the ECB cells constructed with solution-derived La2O3 films were observed, which indicates that the proposed solution-derived La2O3 films have strong potential for use in the production of advanced LC displays.
