Abstract
The objective of this research is to compare the applications and possibilities of types of e-Governance and investigate the implications of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for the development of governance in four major Asian states, i.e., Singapore, Japan, India and South Korea. There are three general conclusions that can be drawn from an analysis of the development of e-Governance. First, the e-Governance systems in those countries have advanced from being in the e-information services and e-interaction stages, to being in the e-integration stage. Second, the use of ICTs can increase the people's understanding of government services by providing information or administrative facilities. Third, e-Governance differs from state to state, depending on the economy, political system, and state of technology. The existence of diverse actors - and the complicated relationship thereof - also affect the characteristics of e-Governance.
