Formation of bound solitons and their properties in a figure-eight fiber laser

Abstract

The formation of bound solitons was demonstrated in a passively mode-locked figure-eight fiber laser. Autocorrelation trace and optical spectrum of bound solitons were presented. The gradual increase of group velocity of each pulse in a multi-pulse train due to the gain depletion made neighbouring pulses more closer with each other.
