N2 - Despite good progresses made in technologies, practitioners and technology developers are still struggling to identify governing frameworks that may guide technological development and may provide appropriate business models for ubiquitous computing. Data for the study were collected through in-depth interviews with 22 users about their values in using ubiquitous computing technologies. Results of value focused thinking (VFT) study suggest 7 objectives that users are fundamentally value in ubiquitous computing and 17 means objectives leading to these 7 fundamental values. The findings suggest that research frameworks currently cited in ubiquitous computing literature may largely fit with users' value structure while current technological developments are focused more on supply side perspective and may need some course corrections linking towards demand side perspective of ubiquitous computing technologies.
