Abstract

This paper presents a study to estimate the composition of an electric load in real-time, i.e. to determine the amount of each load class by direct measurements of the total electric current waveform. The solution procedure to drive a system equation for the real-time estimation of electric load composition on a utility side is described. The conjugate gradient method and Kalman filter algorithm are applied to solve the system equation. Also, the electric load supplied from the different voltage level by using a transformer is considered with relation to the power quality issue in a practical distribution power system.
