Abstract

Sol-gel silica was introduced as a stabilizing layer for transparent conductive films (TCFs) formed by a network of doped single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). SWCNT films were prepared by spray coating on glass substrates and the films were doped through nitric acid treatment. Silica layer introduced over SWCNT films protected the films under various disadvantageous environments including elevated temperatures, air, and humidity known to degrade electrical properties of doped CNTs. Sol-gel silica capping is suggested as an effective and simple route to stabilize electrical properties of doped SWCNT TCFs under various detrimental environments and improves their adhesion to glass substrates.
