Abstract

A pseudo-random noise (PN)-sequence synchronization method is proposed for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) time and frequency synchronization. By using two PN-sequences as the OFDM training symbols, all synchronizations can be accurately achieved. The peak correlation property of the PN-sequence makes time synchronization much more robust and accurate. Frequency synchronization precision is improved by averaging over the whole PN-sequence. At the same time, this method has a large frequency synchronization range. Finally, the residue time offset is estimated into the channel response.
