Abstract

We propose an energy efficient statistical mode selection with self-interference (SI) harvesting in full-duplex (FD) bidirectional communication systems. In contrast to the general SI cancellation in FD systems, the proposed operation protocol harvests SI as energy when the system operates in FD mode. Since the system selects half-or full-duplex mode statistically, channel state information is not required at the transmitter. Also, we propose optimal operating statistics to maximize system performance. The simulation result shows the performance of the proposed operation according to operating statistics, and existence of optimal operating statistics that maximize system performance.
