Abstract

Microstructural evolution and resulting mechanical properties in Mg-2MM-2Sn-X (X = Al and/or Zn) alloys have been investigated. The specimens were fabricated by hot-rolling. The tensile tests were performed at room temperature and 200 °C. The rollability and mechanical properties of specimens are improved with the addition of Al and/or Zn in Mg-MM-Sn alloy. Especially, annealed Mg-2MM-2Sn-1Zn sheet exhibits a good combination of strength and elongation-to-fracture. The result of conical cup test at 200 °C with punch speed of 50 mm/min shows that the addition of Al and/or Zn also improves the formability of Mg-MM-Sn alloys. Moreover, alloy containing Zn showed the best formability. The effects of texture and c/a ratio on formability have been discussed.
