Abstract
We propose an optical receiver that reduces inter-cell interference (ICI) for visible light communication, by utilizing a differential detection system. The differential optical receiver detects a signal from in-band overlapping signals, and reduces any unwanted interference from adjacent cells. We verified the performance of the proposed system experimentally and compared it with a carrier-Allocation system, which is a method used in cell planning for reducing ICI. The proposed scheme allows flexible cell planning, regardless of the number of interference channels and of the frequency band of adjacent cells.
