Abstract

We design a superparaboloidal solid immersion minor (SP-SIM) using a tilt paraboloidal mirror and total internal reflection for application to the optical flying head for near-field recording. The design parameters are optimised in terms of the symmetric beam intensity on the high-numerical-aperture focusing system. Since the SP-SIM has two functions, namely, as an objective lens and a folding mirror, the height and weight of the optical flying head can be reduced.
