Design features of YBG district in the perspective of holistic health

Abstract

The stagnation of the urban region is closely related to the health of the community. It is discussed with two points of view like the health of the community itself and that of residents in the region, thus the aspects of the health design should be distinguished by holistic way. The purpose of this study is to examine the general design features in the perspective of a holistic health of the case of YBG in San Francisco. To achieve the purpose, literature review and web information search were employed along with field study by walking-through to find out the design attributes of YBG at total glance, then the qualitative research method was conducted to extract physical, psychological, and social health features. The analysis showed 3 design attributes of UD, Spatial and Community design. YBG's case can be effective to the health-design indications for the urban regeneration plan in Korea hereafter.
