Abstract

Semi-transparent screen with micro patterns and metal coating was designed by optical simulation and fabrication for direct type head-up display (HUD). Micro patterns were optimized to enhance the uniformity and reduce the glare with a range of parameters such as aspect ratio, radius and fill factor. Metal coating is also used to control the transmittance of the screen. Finally, the illuminance uniformity more than 70% was realized in the eye-box with a range of reflectivity for the HUD application.
