Abstract

The design and fabrication of micro lenses using polymer powder for optical data storage by micro compression molding process were discussed. The optical properties of the molded microlenses were characterized by an AFM calibration specimen of 10 μm square patterns. Various defects during molding was analyzed and process was experimentally optimized by controlling process parameters. Micro lenses of hemispherical shape with 250μm in diameter were fabricated and magnification of image by 3.143 times was achieved.
