Abstract
Deoxidation of β-titanium was investigated by Ca-CaCl2 and Ca-CaF2 fluxes at 900 to 1400°C. The content of oxygen in Ti was strongly dependent not only on the Ca potential but on the stability of CaO in the fluxes. The present experimental results indicate that deoxidation of Ti by Ca-calcium halide fluxes could be controlled by the activity ratio of CaO to Ca. The ratio of acao/aca = 0.06∼0.1 was strongly recommended tor obtaining oxygen content ot 40∼I60ppm.
