Abstract

The concept of optical trapping and manipulation of Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beams was extended by overlapping two LG modes of opposite phase helicity to create an interference pattern. The pattern consisted of a set of bright spot. It was found that, three dimensional structures can be built up by creating stacks of micro-spheres in each of the bright spots in the pattern.
