Abstract

This paper proposes a coherent detection scheme using channel estimation in IEEE802.15.4a low-rate ultra-wideband (LR-UWB). Channel parameters such as channel gains and channel delays were calculated based on the correlation of the reference signal and the received signal for the channel estimation in LR-UWB systems and these values were used for data detection. Iteration was performed for better accuracy of the estimation and the estimated values were used for bit data detection. IEEE802.15.4a channel and RAKE receiver were used to compare the performance and the result showed that the receiver, in which iteration was used, performed better by 4-5 dB. This also proposes a structure of a receiver which enables 2 bits detection.
