Abstract
This brief implements an impulse radio ultrawideband receiver (Rx) for accurate wireless ranging. The ranging accuracy of pm 9.7 mm is achieved in a multipath environment by employing the proposed leading edge detection method with a time-to-digital converter (TDC). The Rx extracts the leading edge of the input pulse, and the TDC measures the time of arrival, which is the time interval between the leading edge of a received signal and the reference clock synchronized with a transmitter (Tx). The Rx is implemented with 130-nm CMOS and consumes 46.8 mW.
