Abstract

In this paper, a simple and novel circular patch loaded printed monopole antenna fed by a coaxial probe is proposed for operating at PCS band. The antenna comprises printed monopole antenna which is connected to the circular patch and two additional flat strips at both side. After choosing the height of printed monopole, the bandwidth and resonant frequency of the proposed antenna are mainly affected by the width of monopole and the spacing between strip and monopole. The measured return loss characteristics of the proposed antennas reveal bandwidth greater than 200 MHz for VSWR < 2 criterion. Even further, the radiation pattern of the proposed LP antenna shows very similar behavior to those of the monopole antenna. The peak antenna gain of about 3 dBi is predicted.
